WHO WE ARE
We are a non-profit, student run music society from the University of Warwick, based in the West Midlands. All our members are students and staff at the university, and play with the band alongside their academic studies. Our music is of an exceptional standard – historically we have taken part in the National Concert Band Festival, and in recent years have been awarded a Platinum award in the national rounds (the highest accolade offered by the competition).
WHAT WE DO
The band performs to a wide audience, from private functions (including weddings, corporate functions and university balls) to international jazz festivals, and our own highly popular concerts at the Warwick Arts Centre. Be it big band swing, jazz, blues, latin, funk or pop, we aim to accommodate a wide range of styles suitable for various musical occasions. We also run a smaller band, with anywhere from three to fifteen members, covering further styles of a slightly different kind. The small band repertoire focuses on pop music, and classic jazz standards which are perfect for private functions.
WHERE WE PERFORM
Although we are based in the Warwickshire area, we pride ourselves on being an internationally renowned band. In recent years we have toured across Europe and beyond: Italy, Switzerland, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France, and the Czech Republic, to name a few. We regularly tour across the UK, performing with other university big bands and bringing our music to other cities throughout the country. Our recent domestic tour locations include Brighton, Nottingham, London, Mancester, Liverpool, and Bristol.
To maintain our professional and award winning standard, we strive to produce the best music we can, while maintaining a friendly and informal atmosphere for our members. We offer numerous performance opportunities to all our players, regardless of ability or background, and encourage everyone to take part. This ensures all our members are confident perfomers and make music of the highest standard.
